Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

The RoHS-Directive (2011/65/EU) restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and vehicles respectively. The restrictions are imposed to preserve the environment, improve recycling possibilities and minimize the exposure of employees. The relevant substances are lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and the flame retardants polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). The following 4 new substances have been added to RoHS Annex II in June 2015: Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).

Similar legislation is in force or in preparation in other countries and areas.

This declaration includes the 4 new substances added to Annex II of the RoHS Directive in June 2015.

Similar substance requirements are in force in the EU for Automotive products (End of Life Vehicles – ELV-Directive 2000/53/EC). ams-OSRAM International GmbH products are in conformity with the directive.
