The IR MIDLED from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is nothing short of groundbreaking. It achieves a very narrow beam angle without the need for a lens, delivering high light intensity and excellent range in an extremely small package. It can also be combined with a phototransistor in a matching package.

The MIDLED offers remarkable high radiant intensity. Compared to a TOPLED with the same die, the MIDLED's light beam reaches about 3 times further.

Groundbreaking flexibility

The MIDLED offers flexibility for designers, because its package can be used both as a toplooker and as a sidelooker. The narrow angle SMT sidelooker rounds off the SMT product family of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.

Groundbreaking size

The MIDLED component is just 1.6 mm high. It is a great alternative to the TOPLED with lens, which, at a height of almost 3 mm, is too big for some applications.
